Austin Blasingame Artist Website
Thursday, May 1st, 2008
We are stoked to give one of our most inspiring artists a hand in launching a well overdue website. Austin Blasingame (www.austinblasingame.com) is an up and coming artist whose work embodies an ornate and intimate connection with the physical process. Austin is one artist that lives and breathes in a sea of layers, making him a beacon of inspiration for the Myjive team.
As a long-time friend and fellow designer, Austin continues to impress with everything he touches. Whether designing broadcast graphics for VH1, embroidering clothing, or painting murals in Nicaragua, Austin puts his heart and soul on the table. It is that type of passion that commands attention. Even amongst the wealth of blog posts and gallery images now available on the site, it still only represents a glimpse of the body of work that encompasses Austin’s early success.
Austin recently organized a 90-foot mural in the trash dump at Dia de Luz 2008, in Managua. Shortly after, Austin explained the experience; “Dia de Luz was about connecting with the local people, and not about a perfectly executed piece of work. It was more important to make the kids feel that they were a part of the production; that their hands and minds would mold the mural, that street art is about being in the moment.” Read the full story at ‘Love, Light, and Melody’ (www.lovelightandmelody.org).
Austin, we salute you.
