Lockheed Martin and WOWvx
Myjive develops a proprietary compositing process for a Lockheed Martin tradeshow using Phillips WoWvx enabled 3D displays. The result was an eye-popping experience. The Myjive animation team produced a time-tunnel which pulsed through the past, present, and future. The depth was so real, audiences were ducking for cover.
In association with IC Media Productions (www.icmediapro.com), Myjive produced the first stateside content on the gorgeous displays for Lockheed Martin (www.lockheedmartin.com). Center stage of Lockheed’s exhibit at the National Postal Trade Show in Washington, DC, the final composites featured an “evolution” of Lockheeds’s automated parcel sorting machines. The exhibit comprised of three columns. Each column held a WOWvx enabled flat-panel monitor which presented one of three unique 3D-stereoscopic animations. The best thing about these monitors is that you get the 3D spatial experience without having to wear 3D glasses.
With roots in broadcast and interactive mediums, Myjive is comfortable with a heavy post-composite process. This is a reflection of our skilled animators and their ability to seamlessly blend multiple layers of video, 3D animation, and effects to produce amazing results. There is currently no professional-grade composite software for stereoscopic output. Instead of boxing ourselves within the limits of this new technology, Myjive busted through the barriers and developed a proprietary work flow that enabled us to create strong effects-driven content without losing important z-depth information – which is critical for making stereoscopic images “pop” off the screen.
Our content is compatible with Phillips’ Award Winning Technology
Philips’ Jos Swillens, at the annual Society of Information Display 2006 (SID2006), said that, “3D-TV is the next frontier for those in the professional display market seeking differentiation to gain a competitive edge, and for consumers seeking the next level in the immersive entertainment experience.” Philips showcased its latest 3D displays, picking up a Gold Award in the process for ‘Display of the Year’. The award, given to the Philips 42-inch 3D Intelligent Display, recognizes the display with the most novel and outstanding features, including Philips proprietary technology which produces 3D images without the help of specialized content or glasses.
The award-winning Philips 3D display line is the latest in the company’s long history of display innovation, and uses Philips WOWvx technology to take the immersible experience for viewers further than ever before, delivering stunning out-of-screen 3D effects.
UPDATE: We recently updated the 3D materials and rendered them using a new 3D monitor technology from NewSight. We utilized the latest version of their Post Production ToolKit (PPTK).
