Charlotte AMA Provides In-depth Look Into The Next Dimension In Marketing.
Myjive’s creative director, Ron Edelen, is speaking at the AMA’s for the second time this year. As posted last month, Ron had made a few statements at the 2009 AMA Marketing Forecast panel, “Print is dead, Social Media Marketing (SMM) or “life streaming” on the web is how successful businesses will be marketing now and in the future.” Many local advertising and marketing professionals in the audience had questions for Ron about social media and how to get involved.
Charlotte marketing professionals will have the opportunity to get a better look at this new marketing tool at the March meeting of the Charlotte Chapter of the American Marketing Association (CAMA). The event will be held on Wednesday, March 11th at McIntosh’s Restaurant, 1812 South Blvd. The event begins with a networking reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by the presentation at 6:30 p.m.
Prior to cofounding Myjive, Ron worked in Los Angeles for traditional media outlets including ABC, BET, HGTV and the NFL network. In 2005, he started Myjive and in 2007, he expanded and relocated his team to Charlotte. He has shown continued success through directing awarding winning interactive projects for the Discovery Channel Store and Warner Brothers Home Video. Ron’s progressive approach to the creative process is reflected in his openness towards emerging technologies and new forms of communication. His playful exploration into incorporating storytelling with motion-based interactive technologies have most recently lead to the design of stereoscopic trade-show experiences and a Wii-mote enabled interactive globe for Lockheed Martin.
At CAMA’s March meeting, Ron Edelen will be sharing his insight into the development of the “newest” age of consumer interaction and how business owners and local marketing leaders benefit from this new technology. Takeaways from the CAMA meeting include:
1. Better understanding of what social media is from an overall marketing perspective- Hear examples of how current businesses (traditional or not) are using SMM and the results they are experiencing.
2. The benefit to a business owner / marketing leader – How to monetize the trends / techniques – where’s the value?
3. How to introduce a cross-platform SMM campaign into a traditional marketing plan.
And most importantly: How to THINK DIFFERENTLY… in some ways, letting go of ‘tradition’
